Seriously, do you know that Jesus Christ is interested in community development! I got this gist from the bible!
Who is this Jesus and why is he interested in community development?
Brief About Jesus Christ
For God so love the world that he gave his only begotten son that who so ever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life. Jesus is he that came and took your place on the cross of Calvary and he still loves YOU irrespective of your past or wrongs! He always loves you, waiting for you to turn away from your wrongs and come to him so you can receive help.
Jesus and Community Development
Community development is a structured intervention that gives communities greater control over the conditions that affect their lives. This does not solve all the problems faced by a local community, but it does build up confidence to tackle such problems as effectively as any local action can. Community development works at the level of local groups and organisations rather than with individuals or families. The range of local groups and organisations representing communities at local level constitutes the community sector.
“Community development is a skilled process and part of its approach is the belief that communities cannot be helped unless they themselves agree to this process. Community development has to look both ways: not only at how the community is working at the grass roots, but also at how responsive key institutions are to the needs of local communities”.
Let’s take a look at Jesus’s thought on the needs of people!
The poor and needy search for water, but there is none; their tongues are parched with thirst. But I the LORD will answer them; I, the God of Israel, will not forsake them.” Isaiah 41:17
“Give proper recognition to those widows who are really in need.” 1Timothy 5:3
“If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth.”1 John3:17-18.
Isn’t it obvious that Jesus is interested in structures that will help achieve this purpose? Well, I think is obvious!
Leviticus 25:25, 35, 39! There is a lot of evidence from the bible that explains that Jesus is interested in community development ….
The essence of today’s gist is for us to get Jesus involved in community development.
He is full of wisdom and able to fill our heart with strategies that will help build a better and peaceful community!
